CARNIVAL

Santo Domingo Musical

Every Sunday afternoon thousands of people gather in the oldest neighborhood in Santo Domingo to dance to the rhythm of the Bonye group, a group that has become legendary promoting the musical heritage of the Dominican Republic. Founding member and lead singer, Nestor Sanchez, will introduce you to the musical passion that lies deeply within the Dominican people. Come dance with the Bonye group!

LA ROMANA

The third most important city of the Dominican Republic, La Romana has become a popular seaside resort not only for its beaches but also for its original attractions and internationally renowned golf courses, considered some of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. Our host in this episode, Hilda Peguero, not only introduces these sites to us but also walks us through one of the main attractions in the region, the site of Altos de Chavon, a replica of a sixteenth century Mediterranean village.

CABARETE

(28 min.) Located in the province of Puerto Plata, this village is a paradise for snorkelers, surfers, kitesurfers and windsurfers. Santo Domingo COLONIAl

(28 min.) Listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the colonial city of Santo Domingo is a must see during your visit of the Dominican Republic. The 16 streets that make up this XVI century district of the country’s capital take you back to the times of Christopher Columbus. Our host Jacobo Molina takes us into the most beautiful museums of Santo Domingo and tells us about the first Cathedral of the Americas.

Samana

(28 min.) Located to the Northeast side of the country, the Samana Peninsula includes three main cities: Santa Barbara, Sánchez and Las Terrenas. Today, we go to explore nature with our host Maria de Los Angeles. Our first excursion on horseback takes us to the most beautiful waterfall in the region of El Limon. Then we visit the national park of Los Haitises by boat through the sea, where the exploration of caves awaits us. Finally, we relax on Cayo Levantado, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic.

Santiago

(28 min.) Also known as Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago is the second largest city in the Dominican Republic, an important cultural and industrial center with a population of nearly a million. The region is also well known for its passion for baseball. Our host Sandy Jimanez introduces us to the local baseball team Aguilas Cibaeñas (Eagles of Cibao) as watch a match surrounded by passionate supporters. On the historical side, we visit the Monument of Heroes and discover the colorful murals of old Santiago.

Jarabacoa

(28 min.) Jarabacoa is an indigenous word meaning “land of water fountains”. Located in the center of the country in the Central Cordillera, Jarabacoa is a paradise for adventurists and ecotourism lovers. Here we find the best river rafting in the Caribbean and wonderful hiking trails. Our host, Chef Amila, is passionate about nature and also introduces us to the culinary richness of the region.

Punta Cana

(28 min.) Located in the western part of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana is an international tourist destination famous for its 32 kilometres of beaches and its grand hotels. But it also hides other treasures. Our host Ivan Prieto invites us to discover them. A unique swim awaits you in the blue waters of Hoyo Azul Cave.

Puerto Plata

(28 min.) Puerto Plata is one of the most important trading ports in the country. Christopher Columbus and his three ships landed here in 1492. Located in the Northwest side of the island, this region is famous for its resorts like Playa Dorada and Costa Dorada. We can also find here the only cable car in the Caribbean, taking us to the summit of Mount Isabel de Torres, located 793 metres from the city. Our host Daniela Silverio takes you there, and then she will introduce you to Brugal, the best rum in the world, before ending our visit in the magnificent fortress of San Felipe.
