  • Dominican Republic’s beautiful beaches are ready for you

Feel like a change of scenery this winter? How about trading snow, ice and cold for sun, sea and warm weather? It’s the perfect time to plan your trip to the Caribbean, whenever you want to visit us, and Dominican Republic is the place to go for a relaxing and entertaining vacation. In fact, the sea’s temperature ranges from 26 to 29 degrees Celsius (79 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the year, so you won’t have to worry about swimming, even if you’re the chilly type.

Did you know that there are no less than 200 magnificent beaches along Dominican Republic‘s 1,600 kilometers of coastline, many of which are still undeveloped and rarely visited? As a matter of fact, sun seekers will be delighted thanks to a wide range of beaches that are sure to please all kinds of preferences! While most beaches are highlighted by brilliant white sand, different sand colors can be found in various areas of the island, namely black sand in the southwest.

Punta Cana’s 48 kilometers of beach are world famous, but Samaná’s beaches, such as Playa Rincón, are just as beautiful. On the north coast, you’ll be spoiled for choice, from Playa Cabarete to Playa Grande to Playa Punta Rucia. If you prefer going off the beaten path, Playa El Valle or Playa Frontón (accessible by boat) will both leave you speechless.

Here are some of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic, classified by location:

    Samaná (16 beaches)

Samaná’s Peninsula boasts a large number of beautiful beaches in gorgeous locations. Playa Las Terrenas is a white sand beach that stretches along Las Terrenas’ downtown area, nested between Playa Punta Popy and Playa Las Ballenas. You will notice fishermen’s canoes, bars and hotels on the beachfront and you can go for a long walk if you feel like strolling along the beach. Meanwhile, Playa Punta Popy is known as the ideal spot for water sports. With a maze of giant palm trees, its white sandy shoreline offers perfect wind and wave conditions for both beginners and experienced kite surfers. Several other beaches are sure to impress, such as Playa Bonita, which is as pretty as its name suggests: a welcoming crescent-shaped white sand beach lined with chic hotels, villas and restaurants. The beach’s western end is as quiet as a swimming pool, while the eastern side offers active waves for the more adventurous.
